The First Poke Bar in Kansas City

The First Poke Bar in Kansas City

Fellow Kansas Citians, dreams do come true: we finally have a Poke Bar. No this is not a ploy and not make believe, I am still beside myself with excitement. Northlanders rejoice because this gem is in your backyard located in an up and coming shopping plaza on North Oak Trafficway.

For those of you further south, let this blog post be the lure that pulls you into this newly opened casual restaurant.  From signature poke bowl creations and creative spins on classics, like its hot cheeto encrusted sushio burrito, Poke Bar has a menu lineup you must experience!

The Signature Poke Bowls

Need some guidance on what to order? Choose from one of Poke Bar's five signature bowls:

  • The California
  • The Salmon Lover
  • The Aloha
  • The Yoshi
  • The Volcano*

* I must admit, I have already visited the Poke Bar three times since its opening. The Volcano was the first bowl I tried and I will forever be a fan of it. Made with yellowtail, tuna, salmon, avocados, masago, tobiko and a list of other toppings, it is explosive in flavor.

Build Your Own Bowl

Want to create the poke bowl of your dreams? Build your own bowl by walking through these 5 steps:

Start by choosing the base of your bowl:

Next load up on protein:

  • Tuna
  • Salmon
  • Yellowtail
  • Scallops
  • Octopus

  • Shrimp

Add some sauce to flavor your fish:

  • Togarashi, Spicy Mayo
  • Ponzu
  • Unagi
  • Volcano

  • Sweet Chili

Sushi Burrito

The party doesn't stop there. Poke Bar will also whip up a sushi burrito, based on its signature bowls or custom made to order. One thing that may not be known at first glance, is that Poke Bar will even encrust your burrito with your favorite chips.

I opted for the Hot Cheeto Sushi Burrito and it was nothing but fire.
