Summerfest Ultimate Food Guide
Each year, over 800,000 people from far and wide travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to enjoy one of the universe’s most exciting events: Summerfest.
This year’s lineup will entice lovers of any genre - with musical acts like The Weeknd, Arcade Fire, Lil Uzi Vert, Blake Shelton, Ke$ha and Imagine Dragons. However, Summerfest isn’t only about listening to the tunes and sounds of globally renowned artists — “The World’s Largest Music Festival” actually caters to both music lovers and those that would proclaim themselves as die-hard foodies.*
*i.e., yours truly
If you happen to find yourself on the festival grounds this year, you’ve come to the right place. This is my ultimate food and beverage guide of tested, approved and unbelievably satisfying #SummerfestEats. Feel free to wander off my beaten path, as Summerfest has over 45 food and beverage purveyors that accommodate all diets and preferences.
1. Cocktails at Jo Jo's Martini Lounge
Kick off your Summerfest adventures with a drink (or two) from Jo Jo's Martini Lounge. Choose from 8 delectable signature martinis and cocktails including the Summertimetini (L) and Electric Lemonade (R).
2. Corn on the cob at Robby's Corn
Ease into your #SummerfestEats with a whole roasted ear of corn. Those juicy, tender kernels are only heightened by the array of accouterments you'll have at your disposal. I doused mine with chili powder, garlic powder and dusted it with parmesan cheese!
3. BBQ at the Charcoal Grill
Whether you are ordering the BBQ baby back ribs or pulled pork cheese fries, have a few napkins handy because things are bound to get messy.
4. Ice Cream at Cedar Crest Frozen Custard
Tickle your sweet tooth and cool off with a double scoop of ice cream. Cedar Crest's 'Super Madness' flavor is a trio of blue raspberry, cherry and vanilla; it also makes for a very colorful instagram shot!
5. Lasagna Sticks at Angelo's
Imagine your traditional egg roll but stuffed with lasagna, deep fried and ready to be broken open for a cheesy explosion. Sold, right?
6. Soba at Island Noodles
Get ready to wok n roll at Island Noodles! Whether you are a vegan, vegeterian, meat-lover or in search of gluten free options, you'll find what you are looking for between its soba combos, island slaw and smoothies.
7. Beer from Miller Lite
The official beer of Summerfest, Miller Lite, is the perfect beverage to sip on as you peruse through stadiums and stands.
8. Tacos from BelAir Cantina
Go for the tacos and end up ordering the tacos + sweet plantains, I promise you, it's 100% worth feeling stuffed.
9. Jumbo Pretzel from Mader's
If you are up for a challenge head to Mader's for its Jumbo Pretzel. This bad boy is at least twice the size of my head — and I have quite a large noggin.
10. Cheese Fries from Flannery's
Sometimes you just want crispy waffle fries lathered in silky nacho cheese and that is a-okay.
11. Double Stuffed Oreo S'mores from Saz's
This is decadence at its best. Four layers of goodness starting with deep fried sweet vanilla corn flake dunked oreos (isn't that a mouthful) ending with a graham cracker crumble.
12. Coffee from Valentine Coffee
Feeling lethargic or down on energy? Stop by Valentine Coffee for a quick recharge.
13. Pizza from Divino
What foodie adventure would be complete without a slice of pizza? Buy pizza by the slice or go for the whole pie at Divino.
14. Shaved Ice from Hawaiian Shave Ice
Cool off with an ice cold cup of shaved ice! If you can't decide on one flavor, section off your cup and get a few.
15. Sausage from Klement's Sausage and Beer Garden
Polish, Italian or whatever your heart may desire, Kelement's Sausage will have waiting for you. Their sausages are served on a bun with your requested amount of sauerkraut — obviously I asked for extra.
