Beyond Meat was my first plant-based, 100% vegan burger and... I was utterly impressed.

If you read my post on intuitive eating, you know that I am a carnivorous being that eats entirely too much meat. However, that all changed when I tried Beyond Meat.

I have never really explored meat alternatives because I have been so meat-enthused my whole life. And until recently, I ate a serving of meat with every single meal. Obviously this type of consumption behavior is not sustainable for my body or for the planet.

Today I plan to answer two questions, two questions that sparked a lot of discussion from my last post. 1️⃣ What is intuitive eating? Intuitive eating is a nutrition philosophy that calls you to become more aware of your body's natural hunger signals as a way to maintain a healthy weight/lifestyle versus more traditional methods such as calorie tracking, completely cutting out certain food groups, etc. It's a 'non-dieting' approach that calls you to reconnect to your body's innate wisdom to determine the right amount of food for you, build self trust around eating those challenging foods and more mindful, conscious consumption behavior. In short, its all about figuring out what's right for yo' body! 2️⃣ What is this burger? The answer you've all been waiting for--you see how I saved it for last? Haha, this 'burger' is actually a @beyondmeat burger that is 100% plant based as well as gluten-free and soy-free! Finding meat alternatives is my new obsession because in my intuitive eating journey I've found that I really like meat--and it's safe to say I eat too much meat. Luckily @wholefoods (my fave @wholefoodsks) has a never ending supply of meat alternatives for me to test, but this one is for the books! The flavor is out of this world and if you look closely it even has that 'beefy medium well' color in the middle. Accompanying my plant based patty, is a slice of an heirloom tomato, red onion, crisp romaine lettuce, whole grain @farmtomktbread buns and lots of tzatziki. In my intuitive eating journey, I realized I needed to reduce the amount of meat I was consuming but knowing and doing are two very different things.

Thats’ where Beyond Meat made its entrance. 

These plant based, 100% vegan 'meat' burgers are the real deal. If they can satisfy and curb my cravings for a juicy slab of cow, I know they'll curb yours.

Beyond Meat Burgers with extra Tzatziki Sauce


  • 1 heirloom tomato

  • 1 medium red onion

  • 2 Farm to Market whole wheat buns, lightly toasted

  • 2 Beyond Meat burgers

  • 4 tablespoons Le Grand Tzatziki sauce

  • few leaves of romaine lettuce

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • olive oil


  1. Lightly season Beyond Meat burgers with salt and pepper.

  2. Cook Beyond Meat burgers according to package.

  3. Slice heirloom tomato into thick slabs or to preference.

  4. Slice red onion into thick slabs or to preference.

  5. Lather bottom bun with tzatziki sauce.

  6. Assemble burger, starting with Beyond Meat patty.

  7. Serve immediately. Because no one likes a soggy bun!
